Mission
The Airport Management Team works to ensure the safe, secure and efficient operation of the Airport. Airport staff include an Airport Director and Airport Maintenance Technician.
Core Services:
- Liaison and compliance with policies of state and federal departments: FAA, CDOT-A and the Transportation Security Administration; these departments formulate the regulations that govern all US Airport operations and security.  Â
- Safety, both ground and air, for local and transient pilots.Â
- Maintain a safe environment for aviation by implementing good maintenance policies, efficient operational procedures and an attractive airport to promote visitors and new tenants.Â
- Access to the Community through accommodating the needs of Air Ambulance services, Search and Rescue, Civil Air Patrol, Firefighting services.Â
- Support for visitors, hunters, fishermen and other sportsmen and vacationers who come to enjoy the many recreational opportunities that Pagosa and Archuleta County offer and provide economic stimulus.Â
- Represent the highest ideals of Archuleta County in all dealings with employees, businesses, agencies, visitors and the citizens of Archuleta County.Â
2025 Goals
- To get an excellent annual FAA/CDOT report with few areas of needed improvement
- Keep the runway and taxiway surfaces clean and in good repair
- Keep all runway lighting operational and in good repair
- Continue mowing operations to keep the airport maintained and beautiful
- Collect all payments due the Airport for annual hangar site leases and to collect all monthly rent payments for three Airport tenants
- Complete the Water Model and continue to build hangars on Bravo/new leases more revenue
- Bravo Taxiway Pavement Maintenance/Rehab. New pavement on taxiway.
- Upgrade Nicks Hangar/FBO Hangar lighting to LED
2024 Challenges
- Work on FAA for Grant to re-pave Bravo Taxiway due to erosion/cracks
- Water upgrade for Fire Hydrants
- Hangar Building on Bravo Taxiway
- Snow plowing on Bravo Taxiway, no where to put snow due to increased hangars
